According to recent reports, Adani Defence & Aerospace has laid the foundation stone for a ₹2,500-crore defence manufacturing facility in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. The project is being described by the company as South Asia's largest private-sector missile ecosystem and is intended to strengthen India's indigenous defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
The integrated complex is expected to include:
A missile manufacturing complex
A composite propellant production facility
A TNT (trinitrotoluene) production unit
End-to-end capabilities from critical raw materials to missile assembly at a single location.
The company has stated that the project is expected to:
Generate around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Support local MSMEs through the defence supply chain.
Strengthen India's self-reliance in strategic defence manufacturing.
Help establish Madhya Pradesh as a major defence manufacturing hub.
While the project has been announced and its foundation stone has been laid, the manufacturing facility is still under development. Its long-term impact on India's defence capabilities will depend on successful construction, production, and future integration into the country's defence ecosystem.
