In 2024, the Indian government announced the approval of 12 new industrial smart cities under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP). These cities will be built with a focus on sustainable, smart infrastructure, integrating advanced technology with concepts like 'plug-and-play' and 'walk-to-work.' They aim to foster economic growth and regional development by enhancing India's manufacturing capabilities and positioning the country as a leader in global value chains.

- Zaheerabad, Telangana
- Orvakal and Kopparthy, Andhra Pradesh
- Jodhpur-Pali, Rajasthan
