objectives of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM):

🇮🇳 India’s Green Hydrogen Mission – Key Targets by 2030
🌱 1. Produce 5 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of Green Hydrogen Annually
India plans to generate 5 MMT of green hydrogen every year.
This will require setting up electrolysers powered by renewable energy like solar, wind, and hydropower.
The production will also support 20–30 MMT of green ammonia for industries like fertilizers and shipping.
🌏 2. Become a Global Export Hub
India aims to export green hydrogen and its derivatives (like green ammonia, green methanol) to countries like Japan, South Korea, and Europe, which are looking to decarbonize their economies.
Strategic ports such as Paradip, Kandla, and Tuticorin are being developed as green hydrogen export hubs.
⛽ 3. Reduce Dependence on Fossil Fuel Imports
India currently imports 85% of its crude oil and 50% of its natural gas.
Green hydrogen will cut down this dependence, saving billions of dollars annually.
It will also help India achieve net zero emissions by 2070.
