Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy donated a gold conch and a gold tortoise idol to the Lord Balaji temple at Tirupati on Monday, July 16, 2023. The couple handed over the donations to TTD Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy. The gold donations are said to be around two kilograms.

Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy donated a gold conch and a gold tortoise idol to the Lord Balaji temple at Tirupati on Monday, July 16, 2023. The couple handed over the donations to TTD Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy. The gold donations are said to be around two kilograms.

The conch and tortoise will be used for the ablution of idols at the temple. Sudha Murthy is a former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board member and former Infosys Foundation chairperson.

This is not the first time that the Murthys have donated to the Lord Balaji temple. In 2011, they donated a golden abhisheka shankam (ritual utensil) to the temple.

The Murthys are known for their philanthropic work. In 2021, Sudha Murty pledged more than Rs 100 crore towards Covid relief initiatives.
