Global Catastrophic Events

1. 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami

Date: December 26, 2004

Impact: A massive undersea earthquake off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, triggered a series of devastating tsunamis. The disaster affected multiple countries, including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand.

Death Toll: Approximately 227,898 people lost their lives. 



2. 2010 Haiti Earthquake

Date: January 12, 2010

Impact: A catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck near Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, leading to widespread destruction.
