Excerpts from The Secret Doctrine:

Excerpts from The Secret Doctrine:

  • Cosmogenesis:

The Secret Doctrine teaches that the universe is cyclical, and that it has been evolving through a series of seven root races. The current root race is the fifth, and the sixth and seventh root races are yet to come.

Each root race is said to have its own distinctive characteristics, and to evolve through a series of seven sub-races. The fifth root race is said to be characterized by intellect and spirituality, and the sixth root race is said to be characterized by love and compassion.

  • Anthropogenesis:

The Secret Doctrine teaches that humans have evolved from lower forms of life, and that they have the potential to achieve enlightenment. Blavatsky believed that humans have seven principles, or bodies, that evolve at different rates. The physical body is the lowest principle, and the spiritual body is the highest.

Enlightenment is said to be achieved when all seven principles are united. This is a state of perfect knowledge and compassion, and it is the goal of human evolution.

  • Theosophy:

The Secret Doctrine teaches that theosophy is the knowledge of the true nature of reality. Blavatsky believed that theosophy is a universal truth that underlies all religions and philosophies.

Theosophy is said to be the key to understanding the universe and our place in it. It can help us to understand the meaning of life, and it can help us to achieve enlightenment.

  • The Mahatmas:

The Secret Doctrine teaches that there are beings of higher intelligence who have helped to guide the evolution of humanity. Blavatsky believed that these beings live in Tibet, and that they communicate with humans through telepathy.

The Mahatmas are said to be the guardians of the ancient wisdom, and they are said to be helping humanity to evolve to a higher level of consciousness.

These are just a few excerpts from The Secret Doctrine. The book is a vast and complex work, and it can be interpreted in many different ways. However, the excerpts above give a brief overview of some of the key ideas in the book.
