आदित्य हृदयं
ततो युद्धपरिश्रान्तं समरे चिन्तया स्थितम्।
रावणं चाग्रतो दृष्ट्वा युद्धाय समुपस्थितम्॥१॥
दैवतैश्च समागम्य द्रष्टुमभ्यागतो रणम्।
उपागम्य ब्रवीद्रामं अगस्त्यो भगवान् ऋषिः॥२॥
राम राम महाबाहो शृणु गुह्यं सनातनम्।
येन सर्वानरीन् वत्स त्वां विष्णुस्स्तुतः प्रभुः॥३॥
जितं ते धनुषा श्रेष्ठो वर्मणा वाससां तथा।
नृणां त्वं विश्वतोमुखो विष्णुर्व्याप्तो धनुर्धरः॥४॥
अनन्तश्चासि विश्वस्य मध्ये तु सर्वमाव्ययम्।
त्वमादिदेवो विदितस्त्वंस्वयं पुरुषोत्तमः॥५॥
स्तोमसि यज्ञेश विदुषां वरिष्ठः।
नैनं दानेन मर्हाति वर्यं स्तोमम्॥६॥
अश्रद्दधानाः पुरुषा धर्मस्यास्य परंतप।
अपन्नाः सम्पदां देवीमरोगां चेतसा गृहाम्॥७॥
इष्टापूर्तं न चेन्न तु दुष्प्रापं तत्किमुत्र च।
मानुष्यलोके सदा अधिकं वा यदि वा न जायते॥८॥
सर्वदा सन्निहितोऽस्माकं तत्र त्वं प्रेष्यसि शास्त्रविदां वरः।
येन त्वामाप्ययन्ति देवा मरुतः सर्वमरुतामसमूहम्॥९॥
अदृष्टपूर्वं सर्वे हि एते त्वया वद्ध रथस्थह।
युद्धे चाप्यवने चैव त्रैलोक्यं संग्रमं जगत्॥१०॥
एतन्मुक्त्वा सलक्ष्मणं वाक्यं अगस्त्यो महामुनिः।
जगाम च यथागतं ससीतामधिगम्य च॥११॥
एतच्छ्रुत्वा महातेजा नष्टशोको भवादृशः।
दारादेव प्रमुमोच यः शोकात्स्मृतिमागतः॥१२॥

अभवद्रवणः शीघ्रं रामदर्शनसंप्लुतः।

आर्तयाम्यचिराद्रावणं चाग्रतोऽवस्थितम्॥१५॥
अदित्यहृदयं पुण्यं सर्वशत्रुविनाशनम्।
जयावहं जपेन्नित्यं अक्षय्यं परमं शिवम्॥१
Aditya Hrudayam
1. Tato yuddhapariśrāntam samare cintayā sthitam
Rāvaṇaṁ cāgrato dṛṣṭvā yuddhāya samupasthitam
Translation:
After the tiredness of the battle, standing with a contemplative mind,
Beholding Ravana in front, ready for the battle.
2. Daivataiśca samāgamya draṣṭumabhyāgato raṇam
Upāgamya bravīdraṁam agastyo bhagavān ṛṣiḥ
Translation:
Approaching the battlefield to witness the war,
The divine sage Agastya came near and spoke to Lord Rama.
3. Rāma Rāma mahābāho śṛṇu guhyaṁ sanātanam
Yena sarvānareen vatsa tvāṁ viṣṇusstutaḥ prabhuḥ
Translation:
O mighty-armed Rama, listen to the eternal secret,
By which all your enemies will be vanquished, O beloved of Vishnu.
4. Jitaṁ te dhanuṣā śreṣṭho varmaṇā vāsasāṁ tathā
Nṛṇāṁ tvaṁ viśvatomukho viṣṇurvyāpto dhanurdharaḥ
Translation:
You are skilled in wielding the supreme bow and wearing the armor,
You are the all-pervading Vishnu, the best among men, holding the divine bow.
5. Anantaścāsi viśvasya madhye tu sarvamāvyayam
Tvamādidēvo viditastvaṁsvayaṁ puruṣōttamaḥ
Translation:
You are the infinite one, encompassing everything in the universe,
You are the original deity, known as the supreme person.
6. Stomasī yajñēśa viduṣāṁ variṣṭhaḥ
Nainaṁ dānēna marhāti varyaṁ stōmam
Translation:
You are worthy of praise and worship by the experts in sacrificial rituals,
Not by mere material offerings, the best form of worship.
7. Aśraddadhānāḥ puruṣā dharmasyāsya parantapa
Apnāḥ sampadāṁ dēvīmarōgāṁ cētasā gr̥hām
Translation:
Those who lack faith in righteousness, O scorcher of enemies,
Deprived of wealth, prosperity, and afflicted by illness in their hearts.
8. Iṣṭāpūrtaṁ na cēnna tu duṣprāpaṁ tatkimutra ca
Mānuṣyalōkē sadā adhikaṁ vā yadi vā na jāyate
Translation:
The fulfillment of desires is not difficult to attain,
Both in this human world and beyond, if one is not born with abundant fortune.
9. Sarvadā sannihitō'smākaṁ tatra tvaṁ prēṣyasi śāstravidāṁ varaḥ
Yēna tvāmāpyayanti dēvā marutaḥ sarvamarutāmasamūham
Translation:
You are always present with us, the best among those who know the scriptures,
Through whom even the celestial gods, including the chief deities, the Maruts, approach you.
10. Adṛṣṭapūrvaṁ sarvē hi ētē tvayā vadhdha rathasthaha
Yuddhē cāpyavanē caiva trailōkyaṁ saṁgramaṁ jagat
Translation:
All these warriors, who were previously defeated by you, are now stationed on your chariot,
Both in the battlefield and in the forest, creating a global conflict.
11. Etachchrutvā mahātējā naṣṭaśōkō bhavādṛśaḥ
Dārādēva pramumōca yaḥ śōkātsmr̥timāgataḥ
Translation:
Hearing these words, O mighty-armed one, your sorrow will be dispelled,
Like one who has lost his wife and regains his memory.
12. Tato yuddhapariśrāntam samare cintayā sthitam
Rāvaṇaṁ cāgrato dṛṣṭvā yuddhāya samupasthitam
Translation:
After the tiredness of the battle, standing with a contemplative mind,
Beholding Ravana in front, ready for the battle.
13. Abhavadravaṇaḥ śīghraṁ rāmadarśanasaṁplutaḥ
Anjanēyapariṣvajya saṁrabdham
Translation:
Ravana was quickly overcome by the sight of Rama,
And embraced by Hanuman, filled with joy.
14. Uttaraṁ rāmasaṁsthānaṁ pūjayādhipatiṁ tadā
Ārtayāmyacirādrāvaṇaṁ cāgratō'vasthitam
Translation:
Then, Ravana, stationed in front, worshipped Lord Rama's presence,
Bowing with reverence, seeking immediate relief from distress.
15. Adityahṛdayaṁ puṇyaṁ sarvaśatrūvināśanam
Jayāvahaṁ japennityaṁ akṣayyaṁ paramaṁ śivam
Translation:
The Aditya Hrudayam is sacred, destroying all enemies,
Chanting it daily brings eternal victory and supreme auspiciousness.

16. Sarva mangala maangalyam sarva papa pranaashanam
Chinta shoka prashamanam ayur vardhanamuttamam
Translation:
It is the most auspicious of all auspiciousness,
Destroying all sins, relieving worries and sorrows,
Increasing life span and bestowing supreme blessings.
17. Rashmi mantam samudyantam devasura namaskritam
Pujayasva vivasvantam bhaskaram bhuvaneshvaram
Translation:
Salutations to the Sun, the radiant one, who rises,
Worshipped by gods and demons alike,
Pay homage to the lord of the worlds, the divine illuminator.
18. Sarva devatmako hyesha tejasvi rashmi bhavanah
Esha devasura gana lochana lokatrayashrayah
Translation:
He is the essence of all deities, the radiant and luminous one,
The one with eyes that oversee gods and demons,
The refuge of all the three worlds.
19. Yastvashtau chaika masena stuvan namashtu bhairava
Puraf pradurbhuto hyesha savitasa cha tejasah
Translation:
Those who praise and bow down to Him with devotion for eight months,
This resplendent form of the Sun God becomes manifest,
Endowed with the brilliance of Lord Savita.
20. Vyasvannaha smarathasthvanmi tadgrahana samudbhavam
Sarvaadevinamaskritya grahanam bhavaye tatah
Translation:
Remembering Vyasvan, I contemplate upon his descendant,
Who is born from his consort, saluting all the deities,
I invoke the blessings of the Sun God.
21. Esha me sarvadevānāṁ dhyānakāmaḥ pradīyatām
Aśesha tejasah sambhūto rasmi bhānuḥ samudbhavah
Translation:
May this desire for meditation on the Sun God be granted to me,
Who is the source of all brilliance, the radiant and illuminating one.
22. Yasya prabhā prabhavato jagadandakoti kotiṣvāśeṣavasudhādi vibhūti bhinnam
Tad brahma niṣkalam anantam aśeṣa bhūtavyāpiṁ yasya tvasmin sthitam viśvamāśrayāmi
Translation:
I take refuge in the Sun God, in whom the splendor
Pervades millions of universes, differentiated by the essence of countless
Planets, stars, and the nectar-filled moon,
Whose existence encompasses the imperishable, endless, and all-pervading Brahman.
23. Om namah samartha ramānandāya
Translation:
Salutations to the mighty delight of Goddess Rama.
24. Rama rama mahābāho śrīrāmānandāya namah
Translation:
O mighty-armed Rama, salutations to the embodiment of divine joy.
25. Agastya uvācha
Āditya hṛdayaṁ punyaṁ sarvashatrūvināśanam
Jaya vahaṁ japen nityaṁ akṣayyaṁ paramaṁ śivam
Translation:
Sage Agastya said:
The Aditya Hrudayam is sacred, destroying all enemies,
Chanting it daily brings eternal victory and supreme auspiciousness.
