Eleven years ago, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji envisioned a New India where every household, irrespective of social or economic status, had access to the nation’s financial system. With this vision, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was launched, echoing the spirit of Article 14 (Equality), Article 38 (Social Justice), and Article 39 (Right to Adequate Livelihood) of our Constitution.

What began as a mission of financial inclusion has today evolved into a movement of financial dignity—a transformation that ensures no citizen is left behind in the economic journey of the nation.

📌 Key Milestones of PMJDY

56+ crore accounts opened, ensuring that financial access is no longer a privilege but a right.

Women-led empowerment, with over 56% of accounts in their names, enhancing their independence and participation in decision-making.

Rural and semi-urban penetration, with 2 out of every 3 accounts ensuring villages and small towns are woven into the national economic fabric.

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) eliminating middlemen, corruption, and fake beneficiaries—strengthening the Right to Transparent Governance.

Insurance, pension, and credit reaching the grassroots, aligning with the dream of social security for all.

PMJDY is not just a scheme—it is a constitutional realization of justice, equality, and dignity in the economic field, ensuring that democracy thrives not only politically but also economically and socially.

🌍 On the global stage, this model of inclusion mirrors the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), showcasing India’s leadership in people-centered governance.

As we celebrate 11 years of Jan Dhan, we celebrate:

PMJDY is thus a journey from “Bank Account to Nation-Building Account”, enabling citizens to stand tall as partners in the rise of a New India—Atmanirbhar, Inclusive, and Empowered.
