India and Thailand have long-standing cultural, linguistic, and religious connections that form the basis of their partnership today. Some examples in Hindi and Thai:

Hindi saying: "अतिथि देवो भव:" (Atithi Devo Bhava) - Guests are like gods. Shows the importance of hospitality in Indian culture.

Thai saying: "เสียงไก่ดังขึ้น วันใหม่ก็มาถึง" (Seeang kai dang kheun, wan mai khue ma twung) - When the rooster crows, the new day has arrived. About embracing each new day.

Leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Sarit Dhanarajata played important roles in cementing India-Thailand relations. Today, leaders continue to build on cultural and historical ties.

Some areas of connection are Buddhism, trade networks like the historic Silk Road, cuisine exchanges, linguistic links between Hindi and Thai, yoga and Ayurveda exchanges, vibrant Indian diaspora community in Thailand, etc.

Partnership extends across sectors like defense, education, trade, and investment. Two democracies cooperating closely on regional and global affairs. Annual exchanges and high-level visits. Robust people-to-people ties.

Buddhism is a key religious and philosophical connection between the two countries. Buddhism was founded in India and later became the dominant religion in Thailand. Buddhist concepts like dharma, sangha, and nirvana link the cultures. Prominent Buddhist sites in India like Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Nalanda attract Thai devotees. Thailand also provides scholarships for Indian students at Buddhist universities.

Trade ties date back to ancient times when goods flowed between the civilizations across the Indian Ocean. In the 20th century, India and Thailand forged agreements around commerce and navigation. Bilateral trade today exceeds $15 billion USD across automotives, gems and jewelry, machinery, pharmaceuticals, etc. The two nations aim to promote a balanced trade relationship.

Languages unite India and Thailand. Hindi phrases and words have been absorbed into Thai. Scripts used in both countries like Pallava, Devanagari, and Brahmi have common origins. Linguistic research centers in India study Thai language. Many Thai students pursue language degrees in India. Shared love for languages connects the populations.

Diverse forms of dance and music blend Indian and Thai cultures. Thai classical dances incorporate mudras and costumes bearing Indian influence. Thai music uses instruments like sitar and tabla with roots in India. Dance troupes and musicians regularly perform in each country. Indian cinemas and food have also become popular in Thailand.

The India-Thailand bond today is strong, multifaceted, and ever-growing. Both countries play important roles regionally and globally, and their partnership models mutual understanding and respect between cultures. These deep ties will continue enriching the populations and future generations.
